September is a great time to plant a variety of vegetables as the weather begins to warm up. Below are some of the best options for your vegetable garden for this time of year:
- Leafy Greens:
- Lettuce: Quick-growing and can be planted successively for a continuous harvest.
- Spinach: Another fast-growing leafy green, ideal for early spring planting.
- Kale: Hardy and can handle the cooler early spring temperatures.
- Root Vegetables:
- Carrots: These can be sown directly into the garden.
- Beetroot: Another root vegetable that does well in early spring.
- Radishes: Fast-growing and can be harvested within a few weeks.
- Brassicas:
- Broccoli: This can be planted now for a late spring/early summer harvest.
- Cauliflower: Like broccoli, it does well when planted in early spring.
